About

Beyond the BFA programme, ADM also has a growing community of postgraduate researchers and practitioners engaged in a range of MA and PhD courses.

In 2023, ADM will celebrate its 18th anniversary since its founding in 2005. Despite being a relatively young institution, the school has accumulated a large pool of graduates that have contributed to and driven our local creative industry to greater heights.

How Long Is Now | Two Weeks In July

How Long Is Now

How Long Is Now’ is a story set in the pandemic. We hope that it would be a form of catharsis to those who are struggling and going through a hard time during this period of isolation and uncertainty.

After the reopening of the border between Singapore and Malaysia, a hired driver in his 60s, Frankie, embarks on a trip with Ky, late 20s, a Malaysian working in Singapore, back to his hometown in Penang. Frankie unexpectedly helps Ky with his accumulated guilt and trauma over a road trip. Through an emotional, humorous and exciting ride, we hope that the film will bring the audiences on a therapeutic journey.

Their journey covers over 700KM in distance among locations: Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Sekinchan, Penang.

Two Weeks In July

Fleeing from a toxic relationship turned abusive, Ru-Xin makes the cross-border departure back home to Malaysia in a time of collective uncertainty as the world grapples to recover from the global financial crisis. There, she begins to find herself in irreconcilable situations of estrangement in her homeland as she struggles to move through her new life burdened by profound loneliness and a conflicting heart.

Ru-xin decides to confide in Ping Chun, the cleaning supervisor, who appears to have her life together in a cerebral response to her vivid hallucinations. Through shared experiences, Ru-xin begins to understand that her lack of belonging runs deeper than the body of her physical existence.

Then on, she decides to embark on this journey of self-discovery while promising to return after doing so, hoping it would finally free her from the emotional baggage of the past.
